Biography:
Sun Quan (182-252 AD) was a significant figure in the Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history. The second son of Sun Jian, a warlord during the late Eastern Han dynasty, Sun Quan inherited control of the territories south of the Yangtze River after his brother Sun Ce's assassination.
He formally declared independence from the Han dynasty in 222 AD and established the Wu kingdom, becoming its first emperor. Sun Quan's reign was marked by his strategic alliances, including a period of cooperation with Liu Bei against Cao Cao, culminating in the pivotal Battle of Red Cliffs.
Known for his administrative skills and ability to attract talented advisors, Sun Quan oversaw a period of economic and cultural development in the Wu kingdom, consolidating his power and laying the foundation for his successors.
